Well starting tomorrow I will no longer be the SUB. My daughter got me this t-shirt for Christmas and it set me in motion on a goal for the new year.
I retired from the Postal Service in at the end of July and even though it is something that you think you have been working for your entire career, for me it became the old saying, “be careful what you wish for!” I wasn’t sure how I would fare no longer being in the workforce, so I signed up to be on the SUB list as an aide in the local school system. That seemed to be going well, but it was a little unsettling to not know until 7 am if you were working that day. Last week I was given the opportunity to work in pre-school on Tues-Friday until the end of the school year. So now I will be able to find out if I really want to get another job or just embrace the freedom of retirement.
Now for my new goal. To fit into that t-shirt. I got the “Fitbit” to track my walking progress and I really love it. It pushed me to make sure I get my “steps” in each week. It stated on the package that it was water-resistant, but it is almost water-proof. My brother-in-law and I have both forgotten to take it out of our pockets and we not only washed them, but also put them in the dryer. I had to put mine in rice for a day, but it still works.
Even thought I am doing more walking, I have not been able to lose any weight. Last week, I re-joined Weight Watchers. I have set a goal for myself and I hope to reach it by the end of the school year. I found this new chair I would love to have for my bedroom, so if I make my goal I will post the picture of my new chair. If I don’t reach my goal…..no new chair.
Thanks for listening. I hope that writing it down will make me stick to my goal.
I am hoping before the end of the school year I can actually wear that shirt to school!
