Baby Shower Signed onesie

I am the proud Grandmother of a darling little girl named, Annie Elizabeth.  In January, I hosted a baby shower for my daughter and on one of the tables I had a onesie for everyone to sign.

I purchased a package of onesie’s at Walmart.  The trim was purchased at JoAnne’s.

I first attached the trim around the neck of the onesie, by hand sewing.  Next cut a piece of freezer paper and with the shiny side up, ironed it to the inside of the onesie.  This was to help the fabric stay in place while the guests were signing their names.

I then used a gold fabric pen to write the date of the shower on the front of the onesie.  I placed a permanent black marker on the table at the shower for the signatures. (check out other baby posts on my blog for instructions for the other items)

All of the guests enjoyed leaving a message for our dear Annie!

To display the onesie, we purchased a shadow box.  The lining of the shadow box was black,so to tie the shadow box into the theme of the nursery, we decide to line the back of the box with fabric that we had used in the nursery.

This is the shadow box hanging on the nursery wall.  We also included the wrist bands and hat from the hospital in that shadow box.   I attached all the items to the back of the frame with straight pins.

Mason Jar Candle holder – Paris Theme

I will be posting some items from our Paris Theme baby shower in the next few weeks.  The first thing I did for the shower was make these adorable tea lights to use on the tables.  I started out with a  clear mason jar.  I then found this great burlap Paris ribbon at Hobby Lobby.  The burlap fit right in, since we were using burlap in the nursery.

The color scheme for the shower was the same as the nursery (coral, mint green and metallic gold).  I also purchased mint 1/4″ ribbon at JoAnne’s.

Plug in your hot glue gun and position the front of the mason jar over the word Paris.

Fold over the raw edge of one side of the ribbon and apply the hot glue.  (It is hard to see in this picture) Be very careful not to burn your fingers!

I purchased this decorative glass at JoAnne’s.  It was gold metallic and fit with our color scheme.

I just added a small amount of the glass to the bottom of the jar before I dropped in my votive candles.

I then tied the mint ribbon in a square knot on the top of the jar.  Simple and cute!  I also sent them home with the guests so that they would have a keepsake of the shower.

The Nursery

We are on the count down for the arrival of our new granddaughter. My next few posts will include some of the preparations for our new bundle of joy!  The first step we took was to pick out the fabric.  The color scheme was prompted by the fact that my daughter and son-in-law rent a condo and are not permitted to paint or change the curtains. The nursery has three tan walls and one mint wall, so that was the starting point for the room.  Mint, coral and gold!

The starting point

The starting point

To make the room special, it was decided to cover the valance with the gold polka dot burlap.  I just stapled the burlap to the valance and tucked the curtain up under…I had to pin the top down with T-pins…which I did after I took this picture.

Next we covered the wall with gold metallic dots, which were  ordered online and were 3″.  The website had loads of sizes and colors and they were easy to adhere.  I really stressed over the placement.  I was so afraid they would not be even!   I decided to use my 12″ square ruler to help with the placement.

I put the dot centers on the 6″ and 12″ marks.  I forgot to do a close-up of the wall before I took off the backing.  If you look at the bottom dot, you can see it still had the backing attached.  I used “frog tape” or painters tape to hold the dots in place until I had them positioned where they needed to be…I then peeled of the backing a little at a time while I rubbed on the dots!  I loved the look!

Paris Baby Shower Invitation

My daughter and son-in-law are expecting our first granddaughter.  The photo for their birth announcement was taken in front of the Eiffle Tower in Paris, so I thought it fitting to have the Eiffle Tower on the baby shower invitation.  I cut the Eiffle Tower with my Cricut using the “French Manor” cartridge.  I cut the pregnant girl using the Cricut “New Arrival” cartridge.   My daughter loves to shop so I included the shopping bag on the front of the invitation.  She said it looks like she is shopping in Paris!

I purchased all the paper at JoAnne’s.  The colors for the nursery are mint, coral and gold.  I used those same colors for the invitations.  I made the card 6 x 6, but a word of caution on that one!  If your envelope is over 6 1/8″ you will have to pay extra postage.

Cricut Destinations Paris Card

This September my daughter and son-in-law traveled to Paris.  This is the card I made with the Cricut “Destinations” cartridge to wish them a safe and wonderful trip.  For the card, I choose a printed card that I purchased in a package from Hobby Lobby.  I then proceeded to make the various cuts for the center portion of the card…black (the outline), light blue (sky), light yellow (portion behind the word Paris), green (bushes) and dark yellow for the sun.  It was a fairly simple card to make, but it did have several cuts!

While in Paris, they took many wonderful pictures, but the best picture they took was this one…
